If you’re anything like me, this past year has been a doozy. Filled with good and terribly moments. Food choices that could have been better and exercise programs that could have been started and finished. I, personally, had some tragic moments in my year and chose to feed the sorrow/grief with processed foods and alcohol. Was it the right choice? Probably not. Was it what I needed in the moment? Yes.

So, how and where does one even start? You want to feel better. You want to do better. You also need to accept that it’s not going to be perfect. Give yourself grace if and when you fall.

  1. If you choose to do a program like “Whole30” or just plainly want a restart, an Elimination Diet is a great way to start. Just start somewhere. Even if you don’t eliminate everything at once, although that’s what I recommend, start with something.
  2. Increase your water intake. Yep, you’ll go pee a lot. You’ll also be flushing your system of toxins and helping all your cells in the process.
  3. Get some activity. Yeah, it sucks at first. But it also helps increase feel good hormones.

It won’t be easy. But you will feel so much better after a couple weeks that you may just stay that pace for a long while. I’ve chosen to do another Whole30. I did one for the month of December and felt fantastic. I had a few days off and it’s beginning to catch up with me. I’ve chosen to set up an account with a great meal planning service that will set me up for success. It’s called “Real Plans” and after having done it for a month, I am in love. A definite recommendation.

Below, I’ve included a guide for starting an Elimination Diet for those of you whom want a reset after a crap year. If you feel you need a little extra help, I’m only one click away. We can do this together.
